Google Doodle Pays Tribute to Opera Singer Maria Callas

Famous for her bel canto technique, Callas was praised as one of the greatest opera singers of the century

She was also known for several scandals throughout her life, including an affair with Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, for whom she left her husband Giovanni Battista Meneghini

Callas died at age 53 on Sep. 16, 1977 in Paris, of a heart attack
