Amish Beard-Cutting Not a Hate Crime, Federal Court Says

A string of unusual beard- and hair-cutting attacks on Amish people were not hate crimes, a federal appeals court panel ruled Wednesday

The multiple assaults committed by 16 members of an Amish community in 2011 were motivated by personal issues, such as personality conflicts, harassment and power struggles, not religion, the 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Ohio said in its 2-1 decision
