Parents Sue FIFA, U.S. Soccer Over Concussions

Head injuries became a hot topic during this summer's World Cup, and now a group of American parents have filed a class-action lawsuit against FIFA, U.S. Soccer and other organizations about how head injuries are prevented and treated in the sport


The suit, filed on behalf of current and former soccer players, does not seek any monetary damages, but it does aim to change the rules of soccer to protect young players from brain trauma and improve how professional players are checked and treated for concussions. Also named in the class-action filing are the American Youth Soccer Organization, U.S. Club Soccer, U.S. Youth Soccer and the California Youth Soccer Association. Read more...
