A United Nations helicopter on a routine cargo flight crashed in South Sudan, the U.N. Mission in South Sudan said on Tuesday. A South Sudan government spokesman told The Associated Press that it appears the aircraft was shot down.
The U.N. is "deeply concerned about fate of crew," the mission said in a tweet. The U.N. has dispatched a search and rescue team to the crash site, it added, and it said that investigations regarding the cause of the incident would begin as soon as possible.
